All parts of a XANT wind turbine fit in a 40-foot container so transport cost can minimized. The same container can afterwards be used as control room and workshop.
It is possible to erect XANT wind turbines without the need for a crane. Besides this on site assembly and erection using a gin pole and winch also simplify logistics.

XANT wind turbines have little respect for engineering conventions. Most aerodynamic devices (aeroplanes, gas turbines, etc.) avoid stall. Stall, from a functional standpoint, is the breakdown of the normally powerful lifting force when the angle of flow of the air over an aerofoil (such as a wing section) becomes too steep. XANT wind turbines make use of stall as a means of limiting power in high wind speeds. In doing so XANT avoids the use of failure-prone pitch systems. A stall regulated wind turbine will run at approximately constant speed in high wind, not producing excessive power and yet achieving this without any change to rotor geometry. XANT turbine blades go beyond stall-as-usual and also have an aeroelastically-tailored geometry with a swept-back tip to reduce mechanical loads during storms while maintaining optimum efficiency at low and moderate wind speeds.
The generator is electrically coupled to the grid using a back-to-back inverter enabling high-quality power at variable rotor speed of the rotor. XANT turbines can actively contribute to controlling the power system voltage and frequency during an unexpected change in demand or after a loss of a network element. For island grids, the wind turbine control can be integrated in the energy management system. Thanks to the power curtailment and reactive power capability XANT wind turbines contribute to system frequency and voltage stability. XANT turbines can be optionally equipped with an energy storage unit smoothing the power output and enabling plug-and-play integration in existing diesel-powered networks. The XANT control system can also independently switch on and off dump loads to make economic use of any excess power that might be available.
